Mandelbulber’s main purpose is to render 3D Mandelbrot fractals called Mandelbulb, but it can also handle some other types of 3D fractals: Mandelbox, BulbBox, JuliaBulb, Menger Sponge, Quaternion, Trigonometric, Hypercomplex, and Iterated Function Systems (IFS).

Mandelbulber is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Mandelbulber for Windows is available as a 32-bit and as a 64-bit version. Both the 32- and the 64-bit versions are available as an installer and as a standalone portable version. To recap, Mandelbulber for Windows supports 32- and 64-bit Windows editions and is available as an installer as well as a portable version.

The main element on Mandelbulber’s interface is the 3D fractal rendering. All the other windows, menus, and toolbars that are scattered around this main panel are meant to let you customize how the 3D fractal is rendered and displayed. If you’ve never used 3D fractal rendering, the interface might seem a bit intimidating at first. But I’m sure you’ll quickly get to grips with it.

Mandelbulber can be used to create stunning visuals. No, don’t take my word for it, go and see for yourself. The Gallery section on Mandelbulber’s official website features a large collection of stunning JPG images. When you’re done working on your 3D fractal rendering, Mandelbulber lets you export is as a JPG, PNG, or TIFF image.

Mandelbulber is free and open source software released under a GNU General Public license. If you need help, check out the User Manual that accompanies the application or the Mandelbulber Wiki that is available online.

Mandelbulber is free, it is available for multiple platforms, and it efficiently does its job of rendering 3D fractals: Mandelbulb, Mandelbox, BulbBox, JuliaBulb, and more.
